Inspired by Canada Book Day?  Here are a few suggestions!

Anything from 2016 Canada reads – a wonderful selection of 5 novels written by Canadian authors and defended on CBC

Owls in the Family (Farley Mowat) – classic novel to read to your kids

Fifth Business (Robertson Davies) – a novel to reread as an adult

Annabel (Kathleen Winter) – set in Newfoundland and shares a unique perspective

Where the Air is Sweet (Tasneem Jamal) – a true story woven into fiction to form a wonderful tale of resilience and hope

The Best Laid Plans (Terry Fallis) – satirical; best to listen to the author’s podcast

The Mountain Story (Lori Lansens) – lost in the rockies

Anne of Green Gables (L.M. Montgomery) – classic tale of Canada’s most famous orphan

Letters to my Grandchildren (David Suzuki) – this octogenarian inspires though letters written to his family

Vinyl Cafe Turns the Page (Stuart McLean) – a collection of short stories that will keep you laughing

Three Day Road (Joseph Boyden) – not enough description from my early days of blogging but a book every Canadian should read by an author I hope to meet!

An Astronaut’s Guide to Life (Chris Hadfield) – great insight by Canada’s favourite astronaut

These are all books that I have enjoyed and I would love to hear what you think.  Feel free to comment at the bottom of any of the blog posts.  Happy Reading!!!
