Thanks to my daughter, Erin, for sharing her review of All theBright Places by Jennifer Niven:
I’ve read All the Bright Places three times since I bought it in November of 2016. It’s that good! The novel focus’s on teen life and mental health, it is very well written and eye opening as well.
The main character (Theodore Finch) talks about his mental state as well as all of the little things that keep him grounded throughout his chapters in the book. The second main character (Violet Markey) has a completely different perspective having just gone through some family trauma. With completely different personalities and friend circles, you would’t expect Finch or Ultra-Violet to become friends, but this is the biggest reason as to why the book is put together so well.
It captures your attention and draws you in; I always needed to know what was going to happen next. The stories ending may be devastating or upsetting but its unique, and it wraps up the plot in a way you definitely weren’t expecting.
I can firmly say that Jennifer Nivens All the Bright Places is my all time favourite book, and though I will read many more books in my life I think this one will stay my favourite forever. It changes you and your thinking, you aren’t the same person after reading this book; because after all “We do not remember days. We remember moments.”
Addendum: The movie comes out in 2018 and I am “Ultra-excited”.
Wow, I love this review!! I was actually pondering what book to buy for my friends birthday that’s coming up, and this book seems perfect! I really want to read this myself, but she’s a huge fan of ANY YA contemporary, so she is pretty much destined to love this book. 🙂

My daughter also read this book. I’ll have to let her know about the movie! She loves when the books she reads are made into movies, even though she knows she’ll end up complaining about the changes they made. 🙂
How old is your daughter? Mine is 15 (16 in May).

She is 13 and wrote this review for school and when she read it to me, i thought that it would be perfect for a guest blog. She also loved The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The fundamentals of Caregiving. I love that our girls love to read too!!
