Winter Storms continues the story of the Quinn family. The trilogy of holiday reading began with Winter Street (a 2014 book club pick), then Winter Stroll (2015) and finally Winter Storms (2016). The family experiences their share of troubles and challenges with the love and support of family celebrating the holiday season.
This story begins with Kelly and Mitzi back together, Patrick soon to be released from jail after serving his sentence for insider trading, Kevin proposing to Isabelle and Ava still struggling over which man to choose. In the meantime, Patrick’s wife Jennifer struggles with an addiction to pain medication and the family prays for the return of Bart who is still captured in Afghanistan.
As the family deals with their own challenges, one member is diagnosed with cancer and others deal with a winter storm which might delay their arrival on Nantucket for the holidays. The storm abates, tickets for the ferry are obtained and everyone is together to celebrate the holiday wedding.
If you are looking for an easy to read, Christmas novel (or 3) pick up the trilogy from your local library. It is a “beach” type of read and for the most part the ending wraps things up “like a present”. This is the 18th novel by Elin Hildebrand who spends her time writing between Nantucket and Boston.
